Richard Sherman says ‘my bad’ to Baker Mayfield via Pat McAfee

The Great Handshake Controversy of 2019 has hopefully reared it’s banal head one last time.

In an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman (sort of) apologized to Browns QB Baker Mayfield for the mountain which spawned from Sherman’s (proven false) molehill about a lack of respect from Mayfield in the pregame handshake.

McAfee, the former Colts punter and now free-thinking media pundit, asked Sherman if he would like to apologize to Mayfield or to just move forward and put an end to this (very pointless) nonsense.

“A little bit of both,” Sherman responded. “It’s definitely my bad. I never want anyone to have to deal with some (expletive) that they didn’t do.”

Sherman later said he’d probably reach out to Mayfield via a text to clear the air and more formally apologize to him in person.

Hopefully this is the end of this ridiculousness. No word yet from NFL.com on why they allowed reporter Michael Silver to roll with the story and kept it alive even after it was soundly debunked.
