Richard Sherman, Patrick Mahomes worried about clock ticking on NFL’s health plan

The common theme as NFL camp reporting dates are supposedly approaching has been players like Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt expressing alarm and concern about the clock ticking with no health and safety plan in place yet.

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman said on July 10 that there are “huge outstanding issues (that) are still unresolved” and warned that “all will be revealed.” On Friday, Sherman tweeted an ominous statement in response to NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith telling reporters that there are coaches who don’t see the league’s protocols working (remember what Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay said last month? “I don’t get it!”): “It will all come out.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t sound very confident either on Thursday:

None of this is good at all … but there are still teams saying camps will begin:

On Friday afternoon, the NFL issued a statement that said the league “will address additional issues in a cooperative way,” which made it sound like there’s still more work to be done before this is all resolved.

Buckle up. The clock is ticking.
