According to multiple reports, veteran NFL cornerback Richard Sherman was booked at the Seattle Correctional Facility at 6:08 a.m. Pacific time on Wednesday on a charge of burglary domestic violence. Per public records, Sherman has been denied bail.

According to the Washington State Legislature, “Domestic violence” includes but is not limited to any of the following crimes when committed either by

(b) one intimate partner against another intimate partner:
(viii) Burglary in the first degree (RCW 9A.52.020);
(ix) Burglary in the second degree (RCW 9A.52.030);

Details of the incident(s) have not been revealed at this time.

“We were made aware of an arrest last of one of our player leaders for an alleged domestic violence incident and have activated our domestic violence protocol for the protection and support of everyone involved,” the NFLPA said in a statement. “We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”

Sherman, currently a free agent, was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 draft by the Seahawks, where he played his first seven seasons. He then signed with the 49ers in 2018, and played with them over the last three seasons.

We will update this story as more details are made available.
