Richard Masters gets letter from North East MP to give fans 'timescale' of NUFC takeover decision

Premier League supremo Richard Masters has received a fresh plea to come to a decision on Newcastle United's takeover saga.

Jarrow MP Kate Osborne has sent a written letter to Masters after contact from concerned fans who want an answer on whether Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund have been successful in their bid to buy the club.

The takeover process has been stuck at the owners' and directors' test since April now.

Osborne told Masters: "As an MP for the constituency for Jarrow in the North-East I represent thousands of Newcastle United fans who after 16 weeks of waiting continue to be on tenterhooks to hear the decision that will determine their club's future."

Osborne added: "The length of time this decision is taking is putting immense stress on many Newcastle United fans across the cosituency of Jarrow.

"I am not pressurising you to make a decision one way or another.

"I would urge you to publish a timescale and help put supporters' minds at rest."

Masters said last month that he hoped to conclude the process "shortly" but over a month has passed by and Steve Bruce has called again for "clarity" from the Premier League.
