Richard Madeley says it would be 'logical' for next James Bond to be transgender

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has suggested that the next James Bond could be transgender.

The 65-year-old was hosting the ITV show alongside Susanna Reid when the topic of 007 came up.

The pair were keen to discuss Daniel Craig's recent comments regarding a female actress playing the next James Bond.

Daniel, who will no longer play the notorious secret agent after No Time To Die, said he believes women deserve their own parts not written for men.

“There should simply be better parts for women and actors of colour,” Craig told Radio Times when asked for his thoughts about a woman playing Bond.

He added: “Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?"

Richard and Susanna invited former Bond girl Valerie Leon and Grease star Didi Conn onto GMB to debate the topic.

Didi said she's all for a woman playing the next 007, but Valerie was totally against it.

"I'm very much against it because Ian Fleming would turn in his grave if Bond was a woman," Valerie said.

"I know the world's changing, but it's really not for the better. I just think it's all crazy, really! We love James Bond, and that's what Ian Fleming gave us and that's what Eon Productions has given us for the last 60 odd years and that's how it should stay."

Richard then aired his thoughts and suggested: "I suppose it would be more logical if it was a transgender Bond, if Bond actually changed sex, that would work."

His comment came after actress Didi suggested that a female Bond could be "bisexual".

"If Jane Bond had men that were sexy, that's good for the women. Well, maybe she's bisexual in 2021, so you'll see sexy men and sexy women!" Didi said excitedly.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
