Richard Madeley says I'm A Celeb 'secret is out' and he's been 'learning a bit of Welsh'

Richard Madeley appeared to confirmed that he will definitely be taking part in this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! during Thursday's Good Morning Britain.

The 65-year-old presenter has been teasing that he'll be a campmate for the 2021 series for a few weeks now, and pretty much let the cat out of the bag today.

Discussing it with his co-hosts Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway, Richard said he had been advised by ITV bosses on what to say when the topic came up.

"You may say, 'I couldn't possibly comment'," he revealed, before adding they suggested he talks about the weather.

"It's ridiculous! When a secret's out, it's out!" Richard continued, before teasing: "And it is true that I've been learning a bit of Welsh."

Mother-of-two Kate, who appeared on the show a few years ago, was keen to give potential campmates some advice too.

"It's the time of year when rumours circulate. What I would advise is to just be themselves because they are entirely entertaining in their own right," she said, hinting at Richard.

It was first reported earlier this month that Richard had signed up for the 2021 series of the popular show - which is fronted by Ant and Dec.

A source told The Sun: "Richard’s been asked year after year but the timing has never been right. But now, finally, he’s said ‘Yes’.

"He’s a favourite with ITV execs. He’s brilliant off and on screen so it seemed as good a time as any to throw caution to the wind and eat animal bits.

"He’s a fantastic coup and a nailed-on fan favourite. Once you wind him up, off he goes — he will make for castle gold."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
