Richard Madeley says daughter Chloe's car was stolen off driveway and police did nothing

Richard Madeley has revealed that his daughter Chloe had her 'expensive car' stolen off of her driveway recently.

The 65-year-old TV presenter was hosting Monday's Good Morning Britain alongside Ranvir Singh when he made the admission.

The duo were interviewing Shadow Justice Secretary Steve Reed and the conversation soon turned to Labour's pledge to tackle crime.

Ranvir commented: "Nearly two million anti-social behaviour reports have gone unattended by 34 police forces over the past three years. That shows that 55.2 per cent of all antisocial behaviour incidents were not responded to."

Mr Reed replied: "You make a really strong point there, and you've got Priti Patel coming in - you can ask her why government cut 21,000 police from our streets..."

Richard then waded in and revealed: "We all have a story to tell. My daughter's care was stolen off the driveway of our home in London about two months ago.

"She reported it, she got a crime number, and about 10 minutes later she got a call from the police saying that they weren't gonna investigate it any further because they had nothing to go on, and that was that!

"You know, an expensive car taken and no investigation, no number plate recognition put out. It was just basically filed away and I know many of our viewers will have reports of similar experiences.

"I mean, being burgled and having no investigation into the burglary, that is a whole different area..." Richard added.

Richard's comments come just weeks after Chloe, 34, revealed she and her husband James Haskell had moved into their first marital home in the Midlands.

The couple got married back in 2018 and in February of this year, they announced that they are expecting a baby girl together.

Chloe and James' path to parenthood wasn’t straightforward and in a recent interview with OK! magazine, Chloe spoke about her fertility struggles, and said it was "really complicated".

She said they hadn’t been using contraception “for months”, and began to get worried early last year when she still wasn’t pregnant.

“We picked up the pace in terms of trying and that nervousness turned into utter fear. Like, ‘Hang on, I don’t want this option taken away from me'," she explained.

“I woke up in the middle of the night and it hit me like a ton of bricks. And that pushed me into making a decision and that I absolutely wanted to have a family,” Chloe added.

Chloe announced she was pregnant via Instagram on February 15 when she shared a cute homemade video, including a picture of her baby scan.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
