Richard Madeley's I'm A Celebrity odds slashed after his comments about Strictly

Odds for Richard Madeley to appear on this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! have been slashed following his Strictly Come Dancing snub.

As he hosted Thursday's Good Morning Britain, Richard revealed he'd turned down the BBC series over fears he would 'look stupid' performing one dance in particular.

"I wouldn't do it because of the jive. I cannot conceivably come on in spandex and lurex and do the flick kicks."

Rumours are now rife the veteran host will be far more comfortable in the I'm A Celeb camp uniform with odds of Richard heading down under now just 3/1.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: "He's by no means a stranger to our screens and the latest odds suggest Richard Madeley may well be heading into the jungle later this year."

Richard has been a regular on the ITV show's spin-off Extra Camp multiple times in the past and shown skill and dexterity attempting various Bushtucker Trials over the years.

In 2017 he breezed through the trial that boxer Amir Khan famously failed at.

Viewers will remember Amir screamed in terror and yelled "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!" after grabbing a snake rather than a key during the Critter-cal Rescue task.

But Richard took the challenge in his stride when he completed it with ease a day later and collected every single key.

While Richard may have shown serious promise on I'm A Celeb he says there's little chance of him ever appearing on the Beeb's Strictly.

Revealing he was talking to a booker from the show on the other day, he said: "for their folly, sometimes they ask me to go on it and I always say no."

Richard has previously stated that he would be unable to do the show for health reasons after popping a disc in his back in 1980.
