Richard Madeley pays tribute to 'wingman' Emmerdale's Danny Miller after shock I'm a Celeb exit

Richard Madeley paid tribute to Emmerdale star Danny Miller as his I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! adventure came to an end.

As I’m a Celeb fans know, Richard, 65, had to leave the Welsh castle site after feeling unwell. After checks at the hospital, Richard was thankfully fine but couldn’t return to his campmates because he’d left their Covid-secure bubble.

Richard, who is thankfully fine, was interviewed on tonight’s edition of the show by hosts Ant and Dec. He paid tribute to some of his fellow campers including Emmerdale star Danny Miller.

Richard described the acting star as his ‘wingman’. He also said: “He’s a very thoughtful and kind man.”

During the episode, the campmates were played a video message from Richard where he said goodbye.

He reassured them he was fine and in a ‘clean bill of health’ but could not return.

“If it wasn’t for Covid I would be back there eating rice and beans,” Richard said.

“The Covid situation is still biting our bums.”

Richard said he wants to set up a WhatsApp group with his fellow campers once this year’s series ends.

Earlier in tonight’s episode, Danny, 30, spoke about of missing Richard Madeley.

Danny said: “Walking up this morning in camp and not seeing Richard’s positive smiley face was hard.”

Tonight’s edition of I’m a Celeb did not come live as ITV bosses were forced to make a drastic decision due to weather in Wales with several weather warnings in place across the UK - because of Storm Arwen.

The decision has been taken as a ‘precautionary measure’.
