Richard Madeley leaves Loose Men viewers in disbelief as he announces his true age

Richard Madeley baffled Loose Men viewers on Thursday after announcing his age.

The TV host revealed that it was his birthday and that he was turning 65 – much to the surprise of fans.

Appearing on the special male version of Loose Women, Richard also treated his admirers to a throwback photo to celebrate his milestone birthday.

The former This Morning star could be seen topping up his tan in the back garden as he went topless while reading a magazine.

Richard’s daughter Chloe, 33, also shared the snap of her dad in denim shorts to Instagram as she paid a gushing tribute to the TV star.

Alongside the epic throwback snap, Richard’s proud daughter penned: “It’s Dickie’s birthday and he’s not on Instagram but I’m posting this anyway out of mad respect for him, the Wayfarers, and denim cut offs, legit my outfit O choice.”

Following his age reveal, Loose Men viewers flocked to Twitter to share their disbelief.

“How is Richard Madeley 65? He looks better than me and I’m in my 30’s,” quipped one surprised viewer.

“How on earth is Richard Madeley nearly 75? He doesn’t even have one wrinkle,” another echoed.

Meanwhile, a third shared: “If I look like Richard when I’m 65, then I’ll be a lucky man.

“65?! I genuinely thought the man was in his early 50’s. Madness,” a fourth tweeted.

Another said: "Happy birthday Richard Madeley! Can't believe he's 65 today! He's looking good and in a completely natural way."

Richard’s revelation comes after he recently admitted that he would be ‘well up’ for replacing Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.

The TV star has been presenting on ITV's GMB since Piers walked out on the show following his stance on Meghan Markle and the comments he made since her tell-all Oprah interview.

Opening up about being Piers' successor, Richard told Metro that he is ready and willing and that he will have no problem handling any trolling on social media that might come from being in the spotlight.

Richard said he would jump at the idea of taking over from Piers Morgan on GMB (ITV)

Richard said: "If the phone went and they said, ‘Would you come in and talk?’ of course I would talk to them."

While Richard said that he would be "bonkers not to," he did admit that he does "very much like sitting in for people."
