Richard Madeley drops GMB hint as Piers Morgan replacement needed

Richard Madeley has said he'd be 'well up for' replacing Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain.

ITV bosses are still searching for another co-host to join Susanna Reid on the breakfast show.

Earlier this month, Adil Ray announced he would present GMB from Monday to Wednesday for the whole of April.

He added that Good Morning Britain 's current presenters will be "stepping up" and the show will "mix and match" its current line-up until a more permanent solution is found.

But Richard Madeley told Metro that he is ready and willing and that he will have no problem handling any trolling on social media that might come from being in the spotlight, reports the Mirror.

Speaking about the role, Richard said: "If the phone went and they said, ‘Would you come in and talk?’ of course I would talk to them."

While Richard said that he would be "bonkers not to," he did admit that he does "very much like sitting in for people."

Expressing why this is the case, Richard said: "I have all the fun and very little of the responsibility or flak."

Piers has always been quite provocative with his comments on both television and on social media, which has meant that he has been targeted by trolls on a daily basis.

This has never publicly bothered Piers, who has often fought fire with fire on Twitter and the abuse that he gets has not put off Richard from wanting to be a permanent Good Morning Britain presenter.

Speaking about online abuse, Richard said: "I personally couldn’t give a f***. Far too many younger presenters have been affected by Twitter and cowed by it."

Richard admits though that despite getting "some nice comments" since his run on GMB, he has also had "horrendous abuse" and "death threats".
