Richard Madeley 'apologises' as he returns to GMB and answers I'm A Celeb rumours

Richard Madeley has apologised to his co-stars as he returned to Good Morning Britain.

The TV presenter was reunited with Susanna Reid on Monday's show after he spent a couple of weeks off.

Alastair Campbell had instead been hosting the show alongside Susanna.

At the start of the ITV news programme this morning, Susanna turned to Richard and said: "Welcome back to the programme."

To which Richard replied: "Yes, I had a little two-week break.

"I'm with you now for a solid month, so sorry about that."

But Susanna wasted no time into quizzing Richard on whether he is in fact going to appear in this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

"Are you doing anything in a month's time?" she cheekily asked.

Susanna quickly quizzed Richard (ITV)

"I'm asked this every year," Richard responded. "I checked with ITV about what they want me to say about this because I may be going in or I may not be going in.

"They said quite a few names are leaked at this point.

"ITV quite like for its people not to confirm or deny because I could be a hare that's running in the race or I could just be a distraction.

Richard wasn't allowed to answer the question (ITV)

"I'm afraid that's all I can say."

The Sun reported that Richard was among this year's crop of celebs heading for north Wales when the hit ITV show returns to Gwrych Castle for a second year.

But an ITV spokesperson previously told The Mirror: "Any names suggested for the new series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! are just speculation."
