Richard Keys sends plea to Liverpool fans after Rafa Benitez joins Everton

Veteran pundit Richard Keys has made a new plea over Everton’s appointment of Rafa Benitez.

The 64-year-old hasn't been backwards in coming forwards when it comes to opinions about Everton in recent weeks.

He stuck the boot into James Rodriguez, questioning the Colombian's commitment to the club, and has been vocal when it comes to Farhad Moshiri’s controversial choice of Benitez as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor.

Now, Keys has offered some more advice regarding the former Liverpool boss’ arrival at Goodison Park.

Writing on his personal blog, he said: “One last thing. Please - no more ex-Liverpool players telling Evertonians how lucky they are to have Benitez at Goodison.

“No they’re not. Most don’t want him. The majority will tolerate him, but they don’t want lectures on how they should be feeling from across Stanley Park.

“It will end in tears. It always does with Benitez.”

Coventry City fan Keys says he has many friends who are Blues - including his beIN SPORTS co-host Andy Gray who was an Everton legend as a player - but at the end of last season he had his Scottish pal in stitches with his confused reaction to the Tony Bellew-inspired air raid siren that has played before Z Cars on Goodison matchdays for the past two years.
