Broadcaster Richard Keys believes taking the England job would not be a step up for Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.
England's World Cup quarter-final exit at the hands of France has raised questions over whether or not Gareth Southgate will continue as the Three Lions coach.
Should Southgate walk away from the England job, or the FA decide to move on from him, Howe would almost certainly be on the shortlist of replacements.

The 45-year-old has worked wonders on Tyneside since his arrival back in November 2021 and has always been touted as a future England manager.
But right now, with Newcastle sitting third in the Premier League, it would seem highly unlikely Howe would ditch the Magpies job in favour of the England gig, something which Keys reckons would be a step down in ambition.
"It [taking up the England job] is not a step up for Eddie Howe," said Keys on beIN Sports.
"He won’t be going anywhere. I would have as broad a field as I possibly could. Our domestic league is dominated by foreign coaches. So I would think perhaps it is time to go back to that formula. What’s Arsene Wenger doing? Why not?"
