Richard Keys continues Mikel Arteta criticism after touchline antics during Chelsea vs Arsenal

Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has continued his criticism of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta with a call for the FA to deal with his touchline conduct for a third time.

Arteta watched his side return to the top of the Premier League on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 victory over London rivals Chelsea. Gabriel's second goal of the season was the difference at Stamford Bridge as the Gunners responded to Manchester City's dramatic win over Fulham on Saturday in the best fashion.

Throughout the game, Arteta was often seen outside his technical area when reacting to incidents or barking demands out to his players. In the first half, ex-Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was booked for a late challenge on Ben White and the Gunners boss was quick to express his frustrations to the fourth official regarding the challenge.

Following the final whistle in west London, Keys took to Twitter to call for more to be done to police Arteta's behaviour on the touchline. Alongside a picture of Arteta outside of his technical area, the Bein Sports broadcaster said: "Why is this allowed every week @FA_PGMOL? Arteta has been jumping up & down all game - way outside his technical area. Potter is in his & 4th is watching. Do something about this man."

It isn't the first time Keys has called out Arteta for his antics on the touchline. After the Gunners' loss to Manchester United in September, he said: "When is somebody going to tell Arteta he’s endangering the well being of players by marching up and down the touch line? The technical area is placed away from the pitch for a reason.

“Someone is going to get badly injured if they crash into him. Why is he allowed to break the rules and no-one else is? Look at this picture from OT. He spent most of the afternoon here - in front of the 4th official for goodness sake." He also said in April: "And why is this irritating man allowed to spend 90 minutes outside of his technical area? Can’t the fourth (official) see this?"

The LMA (League Managers Association) have themselves previously discussed the topic, saying in a report that the fourth official "will supervise the technical area to maintain order and inform the referee or irresponsible behaviour by any occupant of the technical area.

"Irresponsible behaviour may be defined as, but not exclusive to, any person who leaves the technical area to remonstrate with the Referee, an Assistant Referee, opponents or members of the opposition technical area."
