Richard Keys has been described as “my adult toddler” by his wife Lucie Rose, who is 31 years his junior.
The 68-year-old former Sky Sports presenter married the lawyer, 37, in 2023, but their relationship has long been surrounded by controversy following the breakdown of his first marriage.
The couple’s wedding came amid claims Keys had run off with his daughter’s friend while his then wife Julia, to whom he had been married for 34 years, was battling thyroid cancer.
Keys has denied being a “love rat”, dismissing suggestions about how their relationship began as “nonsense” and insisting the dynamic between Rose and his daughter Jemma was misrepresented.
Rose had socialised with Jemma while living in Doha, and it was reported at the time that his daughter was deeply upset when she discovered the relationship.

Alongside the circumstances of their relationship, Keys’ previous sexist comments while at Sky Sports and the couple’s 31-year age gap also drew scrutiny.
Now, Rose has given her own view of their relationship, brushing off labels such as “trophy wife” and “gold digger” while making a light-hearted remark about her husband.
Speaking about their age difference, she joked: “That’s because you’re my adult toddler.”
She also defended Keys’ character, saying she met someone “traumatised” by the culture he had worked in and suggesting it was unfair he had been singled out as the cause of it.
Keys spent 13 years living in Qatar following his exit from Sky Sports in 2011, where he rebuilt his career with beIN Sports. He is now returning to London after a decade of long-distance with Rose, who is a partner in private funds at a New York law firm.
His first marriage ended in 2016 when Julia filed for divorce, citing his alleged affair with Rose. She later said his actions had devastated both her and their children.
Keys and Rose first met while she was working for the Qatar Investment Authority, with their introduction coming under unusual circumstances.
Speaking to The Telegraph, he recalled feeling unwell in a bar after accidentally taking a double dose of blood pressure medication while hosting a golf event.
He said “the whole world was moving around me” before Rose approached him after noticing he was in distress, with the encounter marking the start of their relationship.
Keys said their romance developed gradually, admitting it took him time to come to terms with his feelings and change course.
He said he had not expected his marriage to end after more than three decades, describing Rose as a “force of nature” who entered his life at an unexpected moment.
