Richard Johnson tells his Grand National story and explains how he came so close to riding a Scottish hero

Richard Johnson is aiming to break his duck in the Randox Health Grand National.

The champion jockey has won everything notable in the sport expect for the showpiece race which stops a nation at Aintree.

Johnson has come close with runner-up finishes aboard What’s Up Boys and Balthazar King and goes for glory this year on the widely-fancied Rock The Kasbah for trainer Philip Hobbs.

In an exclusive Saturday’s Daily Record newspaper, the 41-year-old also reveals he came agonisingly close to riding a Scottish hero to success.
