Richard Hammond heard 'screaming' after dressing room 'intruder'

Richard Hammond was heard "screaming" after an "intruder" was spotted his dressing room.

The Top Gear host joined This Morning to discuss the new series and the challenges that await him and his co-stars. Before he could get into the meat of the interview, he apologised to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, saying he "couldn't go on without mentioning something."

The presenters both looked concerned as Richard reached into his pocket to grab his phone. Upon retrieving it, he showed the pair and viewers at home the intruder that he found in his dressing room.

He said: "For the last half hour I've been locked in mortal combat. I was watching you two on the tele and I realised I wasn't watching it alone. Barry, my friend, took a photograph of this."

Richard showed Holly and Phil several images of a sizeable spider that accompanied him whilst he waited backstage for his interview. Holly recoiled and apologised for making him suffer through the experience.

Phillip added: "The word came up from downstairs but we don't know what it is but Richard is screaming in his dressing room." After taking the comment in his stride, Richard said: "We've been moving around each other for the last half hour. If I had longer I reckon I could've trained him up, saddled him and ridden him in."
