Richard Gough has dismissed claims Rangers are currently superior to Celtic and insists that the two great rivals are 'evenly balanced'.
The Ibrox legend also believes his former club's mentality needs to be correct ahead of their before the sides face off on Sunday.
Gough wants Steven Gerrard to use the prospect of a first ever invincible Premiership season as motivation.
Rangers are currently 20 points ahead of rivals Celtic after winning 28 of their first 32 matches and drawing the other four but believes the game is on a knife edge.
Gough told Sky Sports News: "If we can go through this season undefeated, that will be an achievement that I don't think has been done before in Rangers' history.

"They've got that in their sights now.
"That would be the motivation, if I was Steven Gerrard, to try to say to the players 'come on we can do this'.
"But look, I don't think the Rangers team is way ahead of the Celtic team.
"I think they're pretty even. They're pretty evenly balanced.
"It's a mental thing. We've won the league so hopefully Steven gets the boys mentally correct."
