Richard Gough in Rangers and Celtic fan demand as Ibrox legend urges safety

Richard Gough has urged Rangers and Celtic fans to listen to demands they stay at home from their clubs to ensure the game continues in Scotland.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon threatened the future of elite sport after Rangers fans broke lockdown to celebrate their league title win over the weekend.

There were also demands from Green Party leader Patrick Harvie to take action while Labour's Anas Sarwar and the Tories' Ruth Davidson also criticised their actions.

And Gough hopes the supporters will heed the warning and stay at home when the Old Firm meet at Celtic Park in the East End of Glasgow later this month.

The match is set for March 21 but is at risk of being postponed with the Government concerned over potential plans for both sets of fans to arrive at the stadium.

And Gough told Sky Sports: "The club will be telling our supporters ‘Look, stay indoors. There’s no use going down to Celtic Park next Sunday so stay indoors’.

"I would implore the fans to do that as well and I’m sure Celtic will do the same with their fans.

"We need the games to go ahead, we don’t want games getting postponed now so hopefully the supporters listen to what both clubs say."
