Richard Gere's wife Alejandra Silva gives birth to second baby boy

Richard Gere's Spanish wife Alejandra Silva has given birth to their second child.

The newborn is another boy, according to Spanish glossy magazine Hola!

The couple are understood to be enjoying the new addition to their family at Gere's ranch outside New York.

Alejandra, 37, tied the knot with her partner, 71 in August, at a civil ceremony in Spain before celebrating the occasion with friends and family at the US property in May 2018.

The couple, who met in 2014 at a luxury Italian boutique hotel Alejandra bought with her former husband, became parents to their first child Alexander in February 2019.

Screen icon-turned humanitarian activist Gere’s grown-up son with former wife Carey Lowell, Homer James Jigme, was 20 in February.

Alejandra, who was born in Spain’s north west region of Galicia, has a seven-year-old son called Albert with her ex Govind Friedland.

Hola! was the first to break the news the couple were expecting their second child together last November.

Alejandra’s last social media post was on December 22 last year when she uploaded a photo of their Christmas tree, taken at their home in Pound Ridge near New York.

The immensely-private couple have yet to even officially confirm they were expecting their second child, although they never denied the extensive reports.

Gere told Hola! in an exclusive interview after the couple’s wedding: “I’m the happiest man in the universe and how couldn’t I be! I’m married to a beautiful, sensitive, funny woman who’s committed to helping people and is a great mother.”

He said in a UK newspaper interview ahead of the birth of the couple’s first child that he was “not all at” worried about becoming an older parent.

He also said he wanted to be a “hands-on dad.”

Alejandra, the daughter of a former Real Madrid vice-president who was educated at Leweston School in Dorset, has admitted in the past to being “a little lost” when she met Richard and has described him as “my hero in real life.”
