Richard E. Grant's Appearance at a Miu Miu Show Confirms 2026's Most Unorthodox Kitchen Trend – Aprons Are Back in a Big Way

Richard E. Grant at Miu Miu .

It's not every day that you see Richard E. Grant donning a leather apron, but fresh off the heels of the Miu Miu spring/summer 2026 show, it's all we can think about. In fact, the show has us thinking that the humble apron might just be the next kitchen must-have.

These domestic fixtures made several appearances in the runway show, from frilly iterations to the aforementioned sleek, leather number. For some of us, they have always been staples in the kitchen, though typically in a cotton or linen variety. Their history goes back to ancient Egyptian civilizations, when they were worn primarily for ritualistic and style purposes. In the 19th century, they began to be associated with domesticity and have been ever since.

I'll be honest; I don't usually don an apron unless I am cooking something either incredibly messy or labor-intensive. After seeing this runway show, though, I am thinking that aprons can and should be a versatile accessory, and I scoured the internet for some incredibly chic options.

Some of my favorites include a striped, Italian-made cotton one that ties simply around the waist; a floral option that works wonders to brighten even the most neutral of kitchens; and a monogrammable one from Williams Sonoma that is classic in silhouette, and comes in a variety of colors and patterns.

Whether you're working with a modern, minimalist kitchen or a traditional, farmhouse-style space, there's an apron for every aesthetic preference below.
