Richard Arnold embarrassed by 'Soapy Dick' throwback on 'astonishing' 25th anniversary

Richard Arnold was embarrassed by a 'Soapy Dick' throwback during his 25th anniversary on TV.

Good Morning Britain viewers can't believe the 50-year-old presenter had been on our screens for so long - with Susanna Reid joking he was "still stealing a living".

Revealing they were celebrating "25 years of Big Dicky", Ben Shephard said: "We are celebrating today. In amongst the bad news there is some wonderful news. Another day another anniversary."

Richard explained that 25 years ago he was presenting a soap segment on a BBC2 Sunday morning youth programme.

He said: "That's when Soapy Dick was born and I was there every weekend giving a gleeful and irreverent take on the soaps."

Richard had his head in his hands after watching an old clip that he didn't think they would be able to use.

Ben was stunned by his quiff and joked: "Your voice hadn't broken either."

That wasn't the end of the trip down memory lane as they looked back at an appearance by Richard on GMTV, which he started presenting on in January 1997.

Cheeky Ben said: "I didn’t know they did botox back then."

The GMB hosts then presented Richard with a special present - a Soapy Dick test card.

When Kate Garraway claimed he hadn't skimped on the blusher, Richard confessed: "I do look a lit bit florid don’t I.

"Astonishing for people at home to realise I’m still working after 25 years."
