Richard Agar addresses Leeds Rhinos' quota player conundrum after Blake Austin signing

Richard Agar insists the door remains open for all three of Leeds Rhinos' off-contract overseas stars to remain at the club next season.

The Rhinos confirmed the arrival of Blake Austin on Wednesday in a deal that will see the Australian take one of the club's seven quota spots next season.

The arrival of Aidan Sezer last month confirmed he would fill the spot vacated by Rob Lui, whose departure has already been announced.

However, with no other overseas players currently confirmed to be leaving, and Austin taking up a quota position, the news confirmed that one of Leeds' three off-contract players, Konrad Hurrell, Rhyse Martin and King Vuniyayawa, would have to leave to make space for Austin's arrival.

Agar admitted the club was well aware of the situation and would have to make changes, but insisted that no decision had currently been made on any of the aforementioned trio.

Instead, the club will continue to hold talks with all three before making a decision on who to move on.

"Clearly, Blake's arrival means we need to free a quota spot," Agar said.

"But at this stage, the door is open for them all and we've let them know that's the case. We've not made any decisions in that regard yet.

"We still have some recruitment and retention to do, and we're keen to keep two of the three guys, but getting more depth will mean one of them will have to miss out next year. We're aware of that and will continue those discussions moving forward."
