Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay isn’t an ordinary running back. So offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello doesn’t plan to use him like an ordinary running back during the 2019 season.
“It’s just great [to have him],” Scangarello said after practice Tuesday. “He’s healthy, he is fresh, he looks great and he is just an outstanding player. I’ve said it before, I just feel like he is one of those different types of guys in this league that provides unique skillsets that can match up.
“He’s got receiver-type skills, runner-type skills, he is competitive and he is tough. All the things you want, and he can flat out run. So, you want to take advantage of all those skills, and he is doing a great job so far.”
Lindsay is perhaps just as talented as a receiver as he is as a runner and he racked up 1,278 yards from scrimmage and scored 10 touchdowns in 15 games a rookie in 2018. Scangarello plans to continue feeding him the football this year, which should lead to another impressive season for the Colorado Kid.
