Pop violin and drums duo The Twoks has joined forces with Melbourne theatre duo Present Tense ensemble to create a 21st century operatic event that pulls together the ordered artistry of JS Bach and contemporary theatre.
Present Tense’s Nathan Gilkes and Byrce Ives were fascinated by Bach’s musical genius, and the story behind his complex piece, Ricercar A6. Inspired by loops, numbers and patterns, the resulting operatic piece incorporates music, design and choreography, and has been composed to be experienced in and around Theatre Works.
