Ricardo Lopes insists Shamrock Rovers will suffer no hangover from Bohs defeat

Ricardo Lopes insists Shamrock Rovers will pick themselves up, dust themselves off and be ready for battle at Oriel Park after their midweek loss to Bohs.

"If someone would have said to us at the start of the season, 'you'll win eight games on the bounce', you'd have snapped their hand off for it," said Lopes.

"We're looking forward to getting started again and getting the next three points - to trying to put it right again."

Lopes will be in a Hoops defence shorn of suspended duo Trevor Clarke and Lee Grace, who he felt were both wrongly red carded in Tuesday's Dublin derby defeat.

With Sam Bone and Ethan Boyle still out injured, the Hoops could be up against it.

"Look, it's tough to take," Lopes said. "I don't want to come out blaming referees for our performance because we played well, but it is a kick in the teeth.

"I don't think Trevor's is a sending off. I was there to cover and would have affected it. But we shouldn't have got done in the first place.

"The second one? Lee's hand is up, it gives the ref a decision to make but Lee felt he made a good block and we got punished for it by losing a player and conceding a penalty.

"Playing with nine men for over 50 minutes exerted a lot of energy. But the centre-half believes that Rovers can take a lot from the performance as they refused to fold and could have nicked a point.

"We dug in after the red cards and knew if we hung in until late on that we might get a chance or two, and we did, and we're all mad that we missed in the end," Lopes said.

"But look, we're happy with the work-rate and that we stayed in it."Lopes had a couple of chances to score himself. "I came close but that's the game, it's small margins," he said.

"We were up against it."Obviously I hate them, but it's a moral victory where we were up against it. As a team we stuck in and could have nicked a draw.

"So we'll take the positives out of it and we'll get our bodies right for Dundalk".
