Ricardo Almeida Santos and Ian Evatt's first words after defender signs new Bolton Wanderers deal

Ricardo Almeida Santos says he is targeting pushing on and helping Wanderers as much as he can . after putting pen to paper on a fresh contract at Bolton.

The defender has signed a new deal with the League Two club and put pen to paper on a fresh deal which now runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The 25-year-old has been an ever-present in the league for Wanderers this term, helping Ian Evatt’s men to rise to seventh in League Two and into the play-offs.

He has featured in every league game for the Trotters this campaign and has also been named in several League Two teams of the week.

And the central defender is hoping to push on with Wanderers now that his future has been taken care of.

Santos said: “I’m happy it has finally got done. We have a good bunch of lads and I really enjoy it here.

“The gaffer and the management team believe in me a lot and I just want to keep pushing on and helping the club as best as I can.”

Wanderers manager Ian Evatt is pleased that Santos has signed a new deal and described him as a 'real leader of the team'.

He said: “I’m very happy that Rico has signed a new contract. He’s been fantastic all season for us and his improvement has been phenomenal.

“He’s becoming a real leader of the team and his consistency has been great.

”I’ve said it before that we want to keep our best players and this is a club that should be building a team around players like Rico.”
