Ribble Winter Trainer: bike review

For those who can’t bear the idea of dragging their lovingly prepared weekend racer through a long dark season of grit and rain, there exists the ‘winter trainer’. Good value, solid and sturdily built, it’s a frame that relishes harsh treatment and even harsher conditions. And you won’t find a better trainer than this one from Ribble. Taking its name from the beautiful Ribble valley, it’s a British company, set up in 1987, that’s now one of the UK’s biggest online bike dealers. Using its ‘bike builder’ you can specify everything from the gear mech and saddle to the exact colour of the tape on your handle bars. The comfortable bikes are perfect for long winter slogs. The only issue is that they’re so well put together you’ll soon wonder why you need your other bike… (ribblecycles.co.uk)
