The Western Sydney Wanderers have signed former Socceroos defender Rhys Williams for the next two A-League seasons.
Williams joins the Wanderers from Saudi Pro League club Al Qadisiyah FC, but previously played in the A-League with Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory, where he had a key role in their run to the 2017-18 championship.
The Wanderers are attempting to return to the finals after a four-season absence - including a disappointing eighth-placed finish in Carl Robinson's first year at the helm.
A former captain at English club Middlesbrough, Williams, 32, should provide defensive strength and leadership.
"Rhys is an experienced player, vocal on the pitch and has a good understanding of the way we want to play," Robinson said.
"He has displayed a strong mentality and leadership qualities at every club he has played for, from a young age he has been a strong presence on and off the pitch and that is something we are looking for in our players.
"Rhys is someone that both understands the A-League and demands respect on the pitch."
Williams' signing comes days after the Wanderers bolstered their attack - offsetting the departure of club player of the year Bruce Kamau by securing Israel international striker Tomer Hemed on a one-season deal.
