Rhys McKee UFC news: Co Antrim fighter offers verdict after watching back Alex Morono defeat

Rhys McKee admits he allowed emotion to get the better of him in his defeat to Alex Morono last weekend.

Co Antrim fighter McKee went through three punishing rounds with seasoned UFC campaigner Morono before losing by unanimous points decision.

It was McKee's second fight in the UFC after his debut against highly-rated Khamzat Chimaev ended in a first-round loss back in July.

Saturday's bout was an entertaining slug-fest, with McKee proving his chin and durability against hard-hitting Morono.

But after watching it back for the first time, the Ballymena 25-year-old says he got too wrapped up in the moment and abandoned his original game plan.

"First time watching the full fight back, great fight to watch even better to be in," he said on Twitter.

"Enjoyed the commentary from @bisping (Michael Bisping), can’t help but be disappointed with fighting the wrong game plan of long and calm, falling into what we believe Morono was going to come out and do.

"The fight game is a punishing game, little damage apart from bruising I’m ready to rock and roll again."

He added: "This all will be the greatest chapter in my book some day, trust that excited for what’s next and ready to take heads!"

Saturday's appearance at UFC Vegas 14 was the second in an initial four-fight deal with the UFC for McKee.
