Rhys McClenaghan qualifies for European Championship final in top-spot

Rhys McClenaghan booked his place in the pommel final at the European Gymnastics Championship in impressive style by qualifying in top-spot for this weekend's final.

Finishing up with a score of 14.966, the 23-year-old finished in first place for qualifying and will be one of the favourites to take home gold in Turkey on Saturday morning.

The Olympian will be looking to secure his second European gold medal in the pommel, five years after he tasted success at the 2018 Championships in Glasgow.

The County Down star will take to the floor between 11.30am and 1.55pm in the final on Saturday.

Haillie Hilton, Emma Slevin, Jane Heffernan and Kate Molloy of the Irish women's team will be in qualifying action this evening.
