Rhondda man driving through Cardiff during lockdown unmasked as a drug dealer with cocaine stuffed in a sock

A young drug dealer was found with cocaine in a sock when he was stopped by police.

Jordan Davies, 22, was driving through Cardiff on May 11 last year when he was stopped by officers who searched his vehicle.

During the search, officers discovered a grey sock containing clear bags with white powder in them.

He was arrested and the bags were seized and analysed.

A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday heard the bags were found to contain 5.58g of cocaine, with a street value between £520 and £800.

A mobile phone was also seized which showed evidence of drug dealing on texts and messages.

Davies' home was also searched and 4.1g of cannabis and a cannabis grinder were seized.

The defendant, of previous good character, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of cannabis.

In mitigation it was claimed Davies, of Pleasant View, Pentre, Rhondda, had been supplying to friends and had suffered trauma in his life due to the death of his friend.

It was also said he had his own business and wanted to pursue this in the future.

Sentencing, Recorder Dyfed Thomas said: "You had been addicted at first to cannabis and then cocaine and there was a degree of tragedy in your life after losing a good friend.

"You started using these drugs, became addicted and couldn't afford it and that's why you went on to supply cocaine.

"Drugs are a malign and evil influence on our society.

"People suffer because of people who sell drugs, communities suffer and you have suffered as a result.

"Courts deal day in day out with cases that arise from the use of drugs and come about by people who deal drugs."

Davies was sentenced to a total of 32 months imprisonment.
