Rhododendrons are in full bloom at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya's Chikusa Ward.

The botanical garden boasts a rhododendron forest that is about 6,000 square meters in size, with about 900 of the flowering shrubs and trees and about 150 species, including the Springtime type.

Rhododendrons are a member of the azalea family.

The vibrant white, red and pink rhododendron flowers are at their peak and can be enjoyed through the Golden Week holidays.

"Although coronavirus infections are spreading, we ask that you spend some time in the spacious garden gazing at the flowers," said an official at the botanical garden.
