Rhian Sugden on how getting a puppy has consoled her after two failed IVF attempts

Rhian Sugden is the picture of contentment after welcoming an adorable puppy to her home.

The glamour model says she's 'so in love' with her little cavapoochon pup Roger.

Rhian, 33, says getting Roger, a Cavalier King Charles, Bichon Frise and Toy Poodle cross, has helped to console her after the heartbreak of two failed IVF attempts with her husband, former Coronation Street star Oliver Mellor.

And she says she hasn't been this happy in months.

Sharing a photo of herself snuggled up with her beloved pet on Instagram as he slept, she said Roger has been a 'godsend.'

"So in love," she wrote.

"Feeling very content with my little family right now. "So many people told me that getting a puppy after failed IVF is a godsend and a good distraction.

"After two failed rounds I tell you what, I’ve not been this happy in months.

"My heart could burst."

Announcing the news of his arrival last month she said: "My family has grown by four little feet."

Followers told Rhian that they related to her story.

"We too have failed with four miscarriages and our only consolation is having our fur baby!" said one.

Another said: "We done the same and that little doggy pulled me through the third attempt and when we brought our twins home nine months later that little doggy was the most protective big brother ever."

"So adorable can heal the heart for sure," another told her.

"Hang in there, and love on that pup in the meanwhile."

After discovering that she wouldn’t be able to conceive naturally, she and her actor husband went through two exhausting rounds of IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) treatment.

Rhian and Oliver, 39, found out just before Christmas that their second round of treatment in November had failed.

Tests revealed she has the 'egg count of a woman over 45' and is in the stage of perimenopause - the time during which the body makes the transition to menopause marking the end of the reproductive years.

Rhian has also been told she has only a three per cent chance of getting pregnant by IVF.

In May, Rhian said their baby plans were on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic but they were determined to go for round three.

Rhian is refusing to give up hope of having the baby they long for.

"We're on hold but we've got our medication in and we're going for round three," a determined Rhian said.

Rhian is now celebrating that her self tan Clarity, which she launched after undergoing IVF treatment, has scooped the Best Organic Body Product at the Global Beauty Awards 2020 and has been snapped up by global retail giant PrettyLittleThing.
