Rhian Sugden launches 'IVF friendly' tanning product with funds going to charity

Rhian Sugden has branched out into making fake tan products for those with sensitive skin – and says it will benefit women who are trying for a baby via IVF.

The 33-year-old former glamour model has developed a chemical free way to change her skin tone after doctors advised her to avoid cosmetics that contain harsh additives to help her chances of conceiving via IVF.

The model – who is married to former Coronation Street star Oliver Mellor – has struggled to conceive through IVF, and has documented her quest to become a mother online.

Now the star hopes her creation will help other women feel more confident in their skin – and says her ingredients will appeal to others who are concerned about the chemicals used in similar products.

She announced on Instagram over the weekend: “I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my very own tan, Clarity! A no-nonsense tan for product conscious people.

“Clarity is all about minimal ingredients but still maximum results - a stripped back tan using all vegan-friendly ingredients, made with the kindest formulation possible and containing absolutely NO harsh chemicals, additives, colourants or preservatives.”

Opening up about her IVF treatments, she continued: “Although Clarity stemmed from my own fertility issues - when I made the decision to ditch a lot of the products I was using in favour for more natural ones, Clarity is perfect for anybody who is conscious of what ingredients are in their beauty products.

“It took us a while but @roseandcaramel made the magic happen and we got their in the end so it was well worth the wait!”

The new product also helps a British fertility charity, as Rhian continued: “£1 from each bottle sold is being donated to Clarity’s charity partner, @fertilitynetworkuk - a charity very close to my own heart.”

Opening up about her fertility struggles last year, Rhian said: “I was told that I may never be a mum – and I’m heartbroken,” she confesses.

“Doctors said I have the egg count of a woman over 45, meaning it’s unlikely I would ever conceive naturally.

“It also means the odds of getting pregnant by IVF have gone down from 30 per cent to two per cent – which was pretty devastating to hear.”

In April the star revealed she had been forced to put her IVF plans on hold as the coronavirus outbreak prevented further treatement.
