Rhian Brewster's future remains in limbo with Sheffield United stalling over a move for the Liverpool striker.
Blades manager Chris Wilder is keen to sign Brewster on a permanent deal and has held talks with Jurgen Klopp over the 20-year-old.
Brewster was left out of the travelling squad for Liverpool's 7-2 Carabao Cup third round win at Lincoln City on Thursday evening, fuelling speculation a move was imminent.
However, it is understood the hierarchy at the Yorkshire club are presently reluctant to meet the Reds' asking price of around £20million.
While Sheffield United have already submitted an offer for a season-long loan, Liverpool would rather not sanction another temporary departure for the player, who spent the second half of last season at Championship side Swansea City.
And Blades boss Wilder has hinted at frustration over the lack of movement regarding the deal, with Brewster also being tracked by a number of other clubs.
"We have a decision as a football club above me," he said. "Always three main players in signing a player.
"The player - does he want to come? The selling club - do they want to let him go and at what price?

"And the buying club - are they prepared to go to that price? These all have to happen.
"I have identified players and there are things that need to happen from an negotiation point of view above me."
The transfer window closes a week on Monday, although there are a further 11 days in which domestic loans can be arranged.
