Rhian Brewster discusses plan to break into Liverpool team ahead of Salah, Mane or Firmino

Rhian Brewster has opened up on how he plans to break into the Liverpool first-team ahead of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino.

The 19-year-old was handed his debut under Jurgen Klopp against MK Dons in the League Cup back in September - a long time after he was predicted to feature due to a serious ankle injury that kept him out for most of last season and required surgery.

The frontman played alongside Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott, another youngster making his debut that day, at the head of the field against the Dons with a number of first team stars given a rest.

Brewster has been a regular feature for the U23s this season, already scoring four and assisting once in seven matches while adding another goal in the only match he has played so far during the young Reds UEFA Youth League campaign.

Ahead of him is the task to break into Liverpool's first-team on a regular basis but standing in his way is the aforementioned world-class trio of Salah , Mane and Firmino while Divock Origi is next in line too.

The youngster though is undeterred and outlined what it is going to take to mount a serious challenge of playing every week for Liverpool.

"You can’t think it’s easy and you’re just going to get there with your talent, because you need to work hard as well," he told Scouted Football .

"I’ve seen a lot of people with talent but not everyone makes it because of the attitude and the drive.

"You’ve got to work for it, it’s not just given to you. You’ve got to earn your way into the starting line-up."

Brewster also outlined how Frank Lampard and Jurgen Klopp similarly place considerable trust in their young players.

He said that like Lampard, Klopp is 'unafraid to blood a young player if he feels they are ready and displaying greater hunger than an established first-teamer'.
