Rhian Brewster backed to fight for Liverpool first-team spot amid stunning Swansea form

Rhian Brewster's red-hot form on loan at Swansea will give Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a tough decision to make this summer.

That is the view of Swansea coach Steve Cooper after the England U21 striker's latest goal for them.

Brewster, 20, notched his ninth of the season this week and his fifth goal in seven games since joining the Welsh club in January on loan from the Reds.

Cooper bossed England U17s to a World Cup triumph with a side including Brewster, who scored in the final.

He now admits champions Liverpool could take the starlet back and integrate him into their set-up next term.

Boss Klopp gave Trent Alexander-Arnold, 21, his chance at stardom and has used the likes of Harvey Elliott, 17, and Curtis Jones, 21, this term.

Cooper assessed: “I think it is a question for Jurgen and Liverpool.

“We are very happy with him here and he is very happy to be here. It is working nicely, most importantly for Swansea City Football Club.

“After that it is up to him where he goes. With these young players it's about when you give them their opportunity and we have.”

Cooper says Brewster showed his quality with a blistering shot on the turn for the play-off hopefuls at Nottingham Forest in a 2-2 draw in the Championship.

He added: “It was a left-foot half volley, I was right behind it. As soon as it left his foot it was only going in.

“He can do that. He has scored a couple of volleys now in the last few games.

“Give him half a yard and that is what he can do - you back him. It was a really good goal.”
