RG Snyman undergoes skin graft operation after Munster fire pit incident and could miss Lions series

RG Snyman could miss the Lions series after undergoing a skin graft operation.

The South Africa star suffered burns after a Munster player threw petrol on a fire last month.

Damian de Allende, Mike Haley and CJ Stander also suffered burns in the fire pit incident.

Snyman has been given a "small chance" of playing against the Lions later this month, but he is currently recovering from the operation away from the Springboks squad.

The Irish Independent reports that South Africa assistant coach Deon Davids said at a media conference on Sunday: "RG Snyman is currently out of the squad, he's not with us.

"He went for a skin graft operation and will start the process of rehabilitation.

"As he recovers, there will be a medical update. He can return. At this stage, there’s a small chance as it stands of him playing in the series against the British and Irish Lions, but he will return for the remainder of the year's Test matches."
