WASHINGTON _ CIA chief Mike Pompeo will replace Rex Tillerson as secretary of state.
President Donald Trump reportedly asked Tillerson to move aside Friday, according to The Washington Post.
The void left by Pompeo at the CIA will be filled by current deputy Gina Hapsel, making her the first woman to lead the agency if confirmed.
The president confirmed the news in a tweet: "Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!"
