Rex Ryan rips Doug Pederson for not beating the Cowboys like his father would have

The pressure is building for Doug Pederson and the Philadelphia Eagles after Sunday night’s embarrassing 37-10 loss to the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys.

Despite all the drama surrounding the players in the locker room, former Jets head coach and ESPN NFL analyst, Rex Ryan, put a bullseye directly on Peterson for how he handled his early-week guarantee and for how his players responded to him backtracking.

While appearing on ESPN’s “Get Up!” on Monday morning, Ryan ripped Pederson for not doubling down on his guarantee to beat the Cowboys. Ryan also ratcheted up the criticism, when he referenced his late father, Buddy Ryan, bragging that the guy who went 8-2 against the Cowboys during the early ’90s, would have gotten the win on Sunday night.

“Pull a Buddy Ryan,” Rex said Pederson should have done. “If you’re going to say it, double down on it. Number one, my dad would have doubled down and he would have beaten Dallas like he always did.”

Pederson’s early success as a coach is now being questioned, especially with the job that his former offensive coordinator, Frank Reich, is doing with the Indianapolis Colts. Ryan hinted at that, crediting Reich for the Eagles Super Bowl LII win, not Pederson.
