Revolution Leeds customer claims bouncer racially abused her and left her standing in the street

Leeds city centre bar Revolution has confirmed it has launched an investigation after a customer alleged she was racially abused by a bouncer and a staff member.

The alleged incident took place at Revolution on Call Lane on Friday, September 24, when a customer said she tried to enter the Leeds bar along with her friend.

Although the woman said her white friend was allowed into Revolution, she claims a bouncer stopped her from following.

When the woman asked why, she was allegedly told: "Because you're a stupid little Asian b***h."

After this alleged outburst, the woman said she asked to speak to another member of staff. She claims the Revolution employee then told her: "Don't pull the race card."

The complainant described her experience in a Twitter thread, which has since been read by tens of thousands of people.

"This language is not acceptable," she said.

"This needs to be addressed. I am not asking for a public apology. I just want public and company awareness that this still goes on, when it shouldn't."

She added: "The main thought behind this was 'but what if he says this to someone else'? If this can reach people and make them think twice about using someone's race against them, then it was worth it."

The national chain, which has dozens of bars across the country, told LeedsLive it is looking into the claims "as a matter of priority".

A spokesperson for the company also said door staff are employed through an external company.

In a statement, they said: "We were made aware of the Twitter complaint on Monday and responded immediately. We are in the process of investigating these very serious allegations with all parties as a matter of priority.

We would like to assure everyone that the alleged views expressed to the customer are not in line with our values.

"We do not stand for racism or discrimination of any sort, and the wellbeing and safety of our guests and team members is always our priority."
