The chief executive of Revolution Bars Group has said it is "excited and ready to bounce back" from the Covid-19 pandemic and called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson to "bring our 'national day of freedom' forward".
Chief executive Rob Pitcher added that Mr Johnson should "follow the data, not dates" and that he is looking forward to "all restrictions on personal freedoms falling away" on June 21.
Mr Pitcher was speaking as the Greater Manchester-headquartered group, which operates 66 locations, reported its financial results for the six months to December 26, 2020.
The figures show its revenue drop from £81.2m during the same period in 2019 to £21.6m and pre-tax losses going from £1.5m to £17.7m because of the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The update comes after the chief executive said in March that "the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter" following the Roadmap and Budget announcements.
The group, which includes the Revolution and Revolución de Cuba brands, added that a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) for Revolution Bars Ltd in the first half of its financial year resulted in exit of five loss-making sites, with a further site exited via the CVA in the second half.
Mr Pitcher said: "Prior to the pandemic the business was outperforming our peer group.
"This year has provided us with the opportunity to advance the business across multiple areas which will allow us to maximise our future performance and capitalise on growth opportunities as we move towards more normalised conditions.
"With the vaccination programme running ahead of the government's expectation and all the Covid-19 related health data exceeding even the most optimistic of forecasts, I look forward to all restrictions on personal freedoms falling away on the 21 st of June and urge the Prime Minister to follow the data, not dates, and bring our 'national day of freedom' forward in line with the vastly better outcomes that have been achieved.
"We are excited and ready to bounce back and as we move on from the pandemic, I look forward to our brilliant teams being able to create amazing memories for our guests as we open our bars and all come back together to celebrate life and each other.''
