Revolut explores possibility of offering car insurance to Irish drivers

Financial app, Revolut has announced that it is considering offering car insurance to drivers in Ireland.

In a statement to the Irish Mirror, a spokesperson for Revolut said: “Revolut is exploring the possibility of offering car insurance. As part of this, Revolut asked its customers if they’d like to join the waiting list to find out first when car insurance has parked up.”

Users of the Revolut app can sign up for “priority access” for what it describes as “flexible, personalised coverage.”

The spokesperson said that it is “very early days,” however, further announcements are expected in the coming months.

This comes as Revolut officially launched as a bank in Ireland with all Irish customers being migrated to Revolut Bank on 1 July. The change saw the introduction of loans from €2,000 to €30,000 as well as current account funds protection by a Deposit Guarantee Scheme.

The App has more than 1.7 million users in Ireland, its second biggest market after the UK, many of whom were advised to order new debit cards in June due to some “behind the scenes” changes.
