Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) has revised its Suvarnabhumi Airport master plan, aiming to accommodate up to 120 million passengers per year.
The new handling capacity goal is nearly double the current figure.
The study of the 2025 master plan is over 70% complete and will be finalised by October before it is submitted to the AoT board.
The updated plan focuses on development to the south of the airport, including a new South Terminal capable of handling 55 million passengers annually and a fourth runway.
Together with existing terminals, total capacity will reach 120 million passengers.
Currently, Suvarnabhumi Airport handles 60 million passengers a year. By the time its East Expansion is completed in 2030, AoT forecasts passenger numbers will hit about 67 million annually.
