When I was in university I bought four pairs of Beats headphones. Yes, four.
Why? Because I thought they were stylish and had amazing quality. That's what I thought.
But I found that when I'd wear my Beats Solo3 's for longer than an hour my actual ears would hurt, not from the volume - they just weren't very comfortable.
This was slightly better with the Studio3, but not significantly.
I would get quite distracted when working in coffee shops on essays and assignments, so I decided it was really important for me to have a headphone that could keep the noise out.
So when my Solo3 's broke and the insurance I'd had on them proved useless, I had to find something new.
I took it as a chance to try a new model that might actually be comfortable to wear for long periods of time.
Headphones provide a better sound quality in my opinion that the tiny earphones that are often popular - and it's much easier to keep track of them than it is to keep track of AirPods.
After scouring the internet, I came to the conclusion that Sony's WH-CH700N model sounded perfect for me.
And it was. It's been over a year since I bought them and they still work like new.
They manage to keep my ears warm when it's cold outside and the noise-cancelling feature is very effective, completely drowning out conversations when you're trying to concentrate.
Now that I've tried these, I would never go back to Beats.
They're more comfortable, the sound quality is better and I find them to be just as stylish even if there are less colours available.
You can buy them here, and if you fancy treating yourself to the newer model - the price has been slashed in half for Black Friday.
That's a good deal.
