Review: Stephen continues his love affair with the Devil May Cry series of games and is just as impressed with number 5 as he was with all the others..maybe even more

I’VE always liked the Devil May Cry series, and none more so than the fifth instalment of the action adventure franchise.

Once again, you take on the role of Dante and Nero in a gloriously gory ride on the way to defeating mysterious villain Urizen. He has taken over Red Grave City and his horde of demons are out to finish off every human in sight.

Review: Days Gone which is exclusive to the PS4 has proved that it was worth the wait.

If you haven’t played Devil May Cry before, you might struggle to keep up with all the characters. Fortunately, the History of DMC in the options menu does a good job telling the story so far.

Gameplay is standard hack ‘n’ slash style – or so I thought until I started racking up the combo points while pulling off some extravagant kills using guns, swords and grapple hooks all at once.

Review : Yoshi Switches things up in world-class adventure

It’s probably as much fun as I’ve had outside a fight game where all I’m really doing is killing enemies.

Nero, now missing his demon arm, relies heavily on the devil breaker add-on, like an artificial limb straight from a Z-movie. He has all sorts of new additions to help take down the demons in spectacular fashion.

Dante has his trusty twin firearms Ebony and Ivory to help him defeat the hordes, as well as his sword.

Review: Since the heady days of Colin McCrae Rally 2.0 on the Playstation, Rally games have been ten-a-penny, but Codemasters have really delivered with their latest installment.

New third character V doesn’t offer nearly as much as Dante and Nero.

The levels moving forward seemed a little repetitive. But show me a hack ‘n’ slash game that isn’t repetitive.

It is quite short but what it did offer was a great chance to go back over and replay with a character more heavily powered up via upgrades gained in the first go.
