AN NHS board has launched a review into how a violent child rapist escaped his escort while on community leave.
Cliff Lyons Dobbie, who is a restricted patient, absconded in Perth city centre on Thursday.
Police confirmed he had been traced at around 8am on Saturday.
Dobbie was convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl in Glasgow while on bail for sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy in 1990.
He has been housed in high-security units, including The State Hospital in Carstairs, ever since.
High-security facilities are used to house people who have committed murder, rape and other serious offences but who have been judged by doctors to be mentally ill and in need of treatment.
NHS Tayside said missing patient procedures had been followed, but ordered a review into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A spokesperson for the health board said: "NHS Tayside has a policy in place which has procedures for staff to follow in the case of a missing patient, and these have been followed in this instance.
"We take the safety of the public, our patients, and staff very seriously and we will be carrying out a full review of the circumstances surrounding this incident.
"We are continuing to work with Police Scotland at this time."
No details have been released about how Lyons Dobbie escaped or where he was found.
