Review: Havana Grill has the perfect mix of great food and friendly staff

It's coming into festive season which means more chocolates, wine and dining out.

And while one should be 'being good' until the celebrations are in full flow, it's hard to resist the offer to go out to try a new restaurant.

Havana Grill opened its doors on Saturday, October 16 on the Dublin Road, serving everything from breakfast meals, quick lunches and hearty dinners.

In this climate, it's great to see local families and their businesses doing well and especially new places opening up in the city.

Décor fit for the 'Gram

From the moment you walk through the doors of Havana Grill, their friendly staff are there to greet you and seat you.

Havana Grill branded balloons sat at the front of the restaurant, still intact from the exciting opening.

Upstairs, the neon signage, very Instagram friendly, adds a glow to the spacious seating area and over an impressive wine wall.

Plenty to choose from

It can be daunting when you're handed a menu or menus full of mouth-watering meals - how do you chose?

Most of our options were a real 'flip a coin' deal, with so much on their main page and the specials for the evening.

You'll not be stuck for choice, with food for all types of eaters and children too. I stayed clear of the chicken goujons for one night, trying to push the boat out slightly.

For starters, we had the crispy beef and salt and pepper squid - both could have been eaten as a main meal, they were that delicious.

Our main meals arrived in great timing after the empty started plates were cleared, opting for the chicken stack which was served on a bed of mash with peppercorn sauce and tobacco onions and then the Tex Mex burger.

Perhaps a glass of milk with the burger though - it's peri-peri chicken with jalapenos!

Make room for dessert!

Once I see the word 'cheesecake' on a menu, it's a certain that I'll have room for it, no matter how much I have eaten prior.

On the evening that we were at Havana Grill, the dessert came as a trio, sticky toffee pudding, chocolate fudge cake and cheesecake - heaven.

I definitely didn't need the three desserts but certainly made a good go at them.

A new gem for the Dublin Road

Havana Grill's opening on the Dublin Road is definitely a boost for the area. Whether it's a family meal, birthday party or date night, the vibe inside is fun and friendly with the added bonus of brilliant food!
